Merge a whole drama into one MP4 file — and manage your library in bulk
v1.0.0.54 added Select mode to Hongguo Downloader's Library: turn it on, tick several series, and apply an action to all of them at once. The headline feature is Merge — it combines every episode of a series into a single 1080p MP4 with a chapter per episode, so a 100-plus-episode series stops being a hundred separate files. The same mode also does bulk Play, Update, Mark seen, and Delete (which goes to Trash, with one-tap Undo).
A long-running 红果 series can leave you with well over a hundred numbered .mp4 files in one folder. That's fine for downloading, but it's a lot to manage by hand — especially once you want to move a series, back it up, or just stop scrolling through episode 001 through episode 112 to find where you were. Select mode and Merge exist for exactly that.
What Merge actually does
- Combines every episode into one file. A series you downloaded as 112 separate .mp4s becomes a single MP4.
- Keeps full 1080p. Merge stitches the existing episode files together — it isn't re-compressing them down to save space.
- Adds a chapter per episode. The merged file keeps a chapter marker at every episode boundary, so you can still jump straight to episode 47 instead of scrubbing through the whole thing.
- Cuts the file count to one. Easier to move to another drive, back up, or hand to a media player that would rather see one file than a folder of a hundred.
How to merge a series
- Open Library and turn on Select mode.
- Tick the series you want to merge — you can select more than one at a time.
- Tap Merge from the bulk action bar.
- Let it run; each selected series is combined into its own single, chaptered 1080p MP4.

Merge is the standout, but Select mode's whole point is doing the same action to several series without tapping through each one individually:
- Play — jump straight into a selected series.
- Update — grab every new and missing episode for all the selected series in one pass, the same update behaviour you'd trigger per-series, just batched.
- Mark seen — clear new-episode badges across several series at once.
- Delete — remove several series together. Deletes land in Trash first, with a one-tap Undo, so a wrong tap isn't permanent.
One more small but useful change that shipped alongside Select mode: Open folder now brings the window to the front instead of opening behind everything else — a minor fix, but one you'll notice the first time it doesn't happen.
